WEEK 36.2- (SEPT 5 – SEPT 12) Flying as close to the sun as possible without melting out wings
“Our greatest challenge is not to understand the world outside but to see clearly who we truly are within. We often mistake ourselves for our bodies, forgetting that the body is merely a vessel, like a boat navigating a vast ocean. Just as a boat is not the ocean, we are not merely our physical form.
Consider the act of drinking water. When we drink, the water becomes part of our body, but we do not become the water. The water is simply fuel for our vessel, hydrating it, keeping it strong on its journey. Yet the real adventure is not about the water or the boat; it is about the captain—the essence within—that guides it.
We are the captain, the inner navigator, the warrior of light, directing our vessel toward the horizon, navigating through both calm and storm. Our goal is to fly as close to the sun, without melting our wings, balancing enlightenment’s brilliance with the wisdom of humility. This journey is one of constant exploration and learning, where each wave and gust of wind helps us find our true direction—not in what we consume or collect, but in the light and love we radiate and reflect as we sail.” – David Scott
“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes a day, unless you are too busy. Then you should sit for an hour.” – Zen Proverb
“Meditation will not carry you to another world, but it will reveal the most profound and awesome dimensions of the world in which you already live. Calmly contemplating these dimensions and bringing them into the service of compassion and kindness is the right way to make rapid gains in meditation as well as in life.” ~Zen Master Hsing Yun
“Inhale love, exhale gratitude.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
“We should not wait until the body and mind craves yoga and mindfulness. The best time to water a plant is before it withers up from thirst and becomes weak.”- David Scott
“Make a promise with yourself tonight, to no longer be defined by your past. The past shaped you, but it does not define where you will end up.” – David Scott
“Your body is listening to everything your mind is saying.”
“Use your spare time wisely, constantly sharpening the sword of wisdom. A secret of success in life, is to be ready for opportunity when it arrives.” David Scott
“Time was when I despised the body; But then I saw the God within and the body, I realized, is the Lord’s temple and so I began preserving it with care infinite.” “Let the entire world attain the bliss I have attained”- Yoga Siddhar Tirumular (or Thirumoolar) in Tamil, in more than three thousand verses, probably between the 4th and 6th centuries A.D., is the oldest and most important text of Yoga from south India.

“Happiness is often like a butterfly. When we chase it, it flits just out of reach, always just a little too quick, a little too far. We expend so much energy in pursuit, thinking it lies just beyond the next flower or at the end of a winding path. But, when we finally stop, sit quietly, and simply be, the butterfly might gently land on our shoulder, unexpected and uninvited, gracing us with its presence.
We often think happiness is something to be hunted, found in achievements, possessions, or the approval of others. But happiness is not a prize to be claimed; it is a gift that arrives when we are still and open enough to receive it. Like the quiet pond reflecting the moon, our inner peace allows happiness to find its way to us naturally.
So, let us not run after happiness today. Instead, let us become the stillness, the open space where happiness can settle like a leaf floating on a tranquil stream. In our practice, let’s release the tension of seeking and striving. Let’s breathe deeply into the present moment, trusting that when we stop searching, happiness will find us—like a lost bird returning to its nest.”
“As long as you search for the Buddha in others, you will never find it within yourself.” – David Scott
“Do not look for a sanctuary in anyone except yourself.”
“Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.”
“When you see a zebra, do you see a black horse with white stripes or a white horse with black stripes? We all witness the same things, but we see them differently based on our perspective. Don’t judge, understand in stead.”
“Don’t let the expectations and opinions of other people affect your decisions. It’s your life, not theirs. Do what matters most to you; do what makes you feel alive and happy. Don’t let the expectations and ideas of others limit who you are. If you let others tell you who you are, you are living their reality — not yours. There is more to life than pleasing people. There is much more to life than following others’ prescribed path. There is so much more to life than what you experience right now. You need to decide who you are for yourself. Become a whole being. Adventure.” – Roy T. Bennett”
Ego says, “Once everything falls into place, I’ll feel peace.” Spirit says, “Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place.” (Marianne Williamson)
“We are acutely aware of our hunger and our longing, yet we remain uncertain about what truly nourishes us. It is like knowing the well is tainted, yet feeling so desperate that we continue to drink from it, even as we taste the bitterness and feel the harm. Our thirst seems endless, but we often feel powerless to seek out a new, pure source that could truly quench the deeper thirst of our souls.
We cling to what is familiar, even when it poisons us, because we fear the unknown path to the clear, flowing river that truly nourishes. We must awaken to the realization that the answer is not in drinking more from the same well but in having the courage to seek a new spring—one that refreshes not just the body, but the spirit. To find that pure water, we must look inward, trusting that the journey to clarity begins with releasing our attachment to what harms us and bravely stepping toward what can truly fulfill us.” – David Scott
“Life’s too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don’t and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.” – Dr. Seuss
“Just because someone carries it well, does not mean it is not heavy.” – Jimmy Buffet
“As gold purified in a furnace loses its impurities and achieves its own true nature, the mind gets rid of the impurities of the attributes of delusion, attachment and purity through meditation and attains Reality.” – Adi Shankara
” Be a voice. Not an echo. THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON ON EARTH IS THE HUMAN SOUL ON FIRE.”
“If a man would move the world, he must first move himself.” – Socrates
“Life is an echo. What you send out comes back.”
Life only demands from you the strength you already possess.
“I know God won’t give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish he didn’t trust me so much.” – Mother Theresa
“The man who removes a mountains, begins by removing a small stone.” – Chinese Proverb
“The sky has no limits and neither should your hopes and dreams.” David Scott
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” ~Mahatma Gandhi
“Never remain a prisoner of your past. It was a lesson, not a life sentence”
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. Lao Tzu
“Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.” ― Maya Angelou
The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.” – George C. Scott
“A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not in the branch but in her own wings. Always believe in yourself.”
“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.”― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
Saint Thirumoolar said, “A person was running and running in search of the Light. He spent his whole life doing that. Ultimately he collapsed and died because he could not reach it.” millions and millions of people collapse in this way, because they don’t know that the Light they seek is within them.
“Touch your inner space, which is nothingness, as silent and empty as the sky; it is your inner sky. Once you settle down in your inner sky, you have come home, and a great maturity arises in your actions, in your behavior. Then whatever you do has grace in it. Then whatever you do is a poetry in itself. You live poetry; your walking becomes dancing, your silence becomes music.” ~Osho
“Don’t chase love. Don’t chase fame. Don’t chase money. Chase being the best version of yourself and those things will chase you.”
“As we sit here, take a moment to embrace the new version of yourself, and gently say goodbye to the old. The old me was an expert at running—a near professional in the art of starting over. I became so skilled at reinventing myself whenever things got tough. A new school, a new city, a new relationship, a new job… I was constantly running and replacing, rather than staying and doing the inner work.
I didn’t know how to stay still, to feel certain emotions, or to confront certain truths. Starting over can be a beautiful reset, but it can also be an easy escape. For those of us who have perfected the art of running, we know that peace is always temporary. The ‘new’ eventually becomes the ‘old.’ The new city, new job, new relationship—they all get hard again, and if our only strategy is to run, then we’re off once more, searching for something else.
But that’s life—it’s light, then shadow; it’s easy, then incredibly challenging. Sometimes, what’s needed isn’t another fresh start but the courage to stay put, to plant our roots deeper, and to weather the storm. It’s about learning to hold steady when life becomes chaotic, messy, or overwhelming, and resisting the urge to flee.
There is profound growth in allowing ourselves to feel what we’ve been avoiding, to face what we thought we couldn’t handle. Over the past few years, I’ve learned the power of staying. I’ve discovered how to find peace when things are tough, how to build the life I deserve rather than chasing a new one. The younger me was always searching for something different. This me now knows to cherish what I have, even—especially—when it’s difficult.”
