MEDITATION – 8
There is no right or wrong in the mind… “Your goal is not to battle with the mind, but to witness the mind.” – Swami Muktananda
Meditation means dissolving the invisible walls that unawareness has built – Sadhguru
“Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.” – Pema Chodron
“Don’t let your mind bully your body into believing it must carry the burden of its worries.” – Astrid Alauda
“Touch your inner space, which is nothingness, as silent and empty as the sky; it is your inner sky. Once you settle down in your inner sky, you have come home, and a great maturity arises in your actions, in your behavior. Then whatever you do has grace in it. Then whatever you do is a poetry in itself. You live poetry; your walking becomes dancing, your silence becomes music.” – Osho
“There is no good or bad meditation — there is simply awareness or non-awareness. To begin with, we get distracted a lot. Over time, we get distracted less. Be gentle with your approach, be patient with the mind, and be kind to yourself along the way.” -Andy Puddicombe,
“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.” – Thich Nhat Hahn
“Distractions are everywhere. Notice what takes your attention, acknowledge it, and then let it go.”
“I cannot always control what goes on outside. But I can always control what goes on inside.” — Wayne Dyer
“Remember the blue sky. It may at times be obscured by clouds, but it is always there.”
“In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you.”
You’d never invite a thief into your house. So why would you allow thoughts that steal your joy to make themselves at home in your mind? – Prince EA
“Life is short. We can live it lost in thought or we can choose to be present as life unfolds around us.”
“The heart of meditation is taking ourselves a little less seriously.”
“The mind is our most precious resource; it interprets everything going on outside of ourselves and communicates that to the inner self. What is your mind trying to tell you? Not only does meditation teach us not to over react, but to not react at all.’” David Scott
“In letting go, we cease trying to make something happen, and then the mind naturally opens. It is like watching a flower grow — free from effort, its petals naturally unfold to reveal its beauty.” -Andy Puddicombe
“Meditation is a process of lightening up, of trusting the basic goodness of what we have and who we are, and of realizing that any wisdom that exists, exists in what we already have. We can lead our life so as to become more awake to who we are and what we’re doing rather than trying to improve or change or get rid of who we are or what we’re doing. The key is to wake up, to become more alert, more inquisitive and curious about ourselves.” – Pema Chodron
“With every breath, the old moment is lost; a new moment arrives. We exhale and we let go of the old moment. It is lost to us. In doing so, we let go of the person we used to be. We inhale and breathe in the moment that is becoming. In doing so, we welcome the person we are becoming. We repeat the process. This is meditation. This is renewal. This is life.” – Lama Surya Das
“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” – Bruce Lee
“The more regularly and the more deeply you meditate, the sooner you will find yourself acting always from a center of peace.”
“Step into the center of the vortex of everything that is going on around you. Like stepping into the eye of a hurricane, you will fine serenity within yourself even in a sea of chaos.” – David Scott
“Don’t hate the arising of thoughts or stop the thoughts that do arise. Simply realize that our original mind, right from the start, is beyond thought, so that no matter what, you never get involved with thoughts. Illuminate original mind, and no other understanding is necessary.” – Zen Master Bankei Yotaku
“Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.” Dalai Lama
“Undisturbed calmness of mind is attained by cultivating friendliness toward the happy, compassion for the unhappy, delight in the virtuous, and indifference toward the wicked.” – Patanjali, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
“You don’t have to attend every argument you’re invited to. Sometimes silence is better than being right.
“Creativity is as boundless, spacious and limitless as the sky. We are born with it. It cannot be lost and it cannot be destroyed. It can only be forgotten.” -Andy Puddicombe,
“I often wonder, on that last conscious breath, as my spirit leaves my body, what thought will play across the canvas of my mind. I pray it will not be about the meaningless drama of the day, or regrets about what could have been, I pray instead that it be a thought of gratitude and joy for a life well lived.” – David Scott
“True meditation is about being fully present with everything that is including discomfort and challenges. It is not an escape from life.” ― Craig Hamilton
“Meditation will not carry you to another world, but it will reveal the most profound and awesome dimensions of the world in which you already live. Calmly contemplating these dimensions and bringing them into the service of compassion and kindness is the right way to make rapid gains in meditation as well as in life.” – Zen Master Hsing Yun
From Mother Theresa:
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway.
“We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless we first establish peace within our own minds.” ― Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
‘Be present, be patient, be gentle, be kind…everything else will take care of itself.’
